Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Changing international fee status to the domestic tuition rate

You are eligible for the domestic tuition rate if you are classified as a permanent resident within the meaning of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act:

  • A person who has been granted permanent resident status and has not had that status revoked.
  • A person who has been approved in principle for permanent resident status in Canada. This standing will be evidenced with a letter confirming that Citizenship and Immigration Canada has determined that they are eligible for immigration to Canada or meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent resident status in Canada.

You may also be eligible for the domestic tuition rate if you meet the requirements of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

To apply for the domestic tuition rate, all students must submit satisfactory proof of status.

Undergraduate Students: Submit a Change to Residency Status form available on your MyOntarioTech account.

  1. Go to MyOntarioTech.
  2. Select the Current students box.
  3. In the Undergraduate forms box, select the Change to Residency Status link and complete the form.

Graduate Students: Provide proof of your status to the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Domestic fees will only be applied for the current term and are not retroactive. In order to retain an exemption from the international fees for a subsequent term or session, you may—at a later date—be required to submit supplementary or new documents to prove your status has been maintained.
