Spring/summer course registration guide

Our registration guide provides you with step-by-step information on how to register for the courses you need for your upcoming academic semester. Make sure you read all instructions carefully to ensure your registration process is as smooth as possible.

Step 1: select what type of student you are from the list below.

Step 2: confirm your earned hours and review the registration start dates to determine your registration date/time from the list below.

Step 3: review tentative course offerings.

Student type

  • I am a new student entering year 1

    All official communication will be sent to your student email account (OntarioTechU.net), posted in the Announcements and Important information tabs on MyOntarioTech and sent as a notification in our mobile app. You are responsible for checking these channels regularly for information such as course registration, examination information and add/drop deadlines.

    To view your student email:

    1. Go to MyOntarioTech.
    2. Select the Current students box.
    3. In the Resources box, select Student email.
    4. Log into your student email using your student number as the username and your date of birth as the password (in MMDDYY format).

    To view Announcements and Important information:

    1. Go to MyOntarioTech.
    2. Select the Current students box.
    3. Select either Announcements or Important information.

    To view your Registration:

    1. Go to MyOntarioTech.
    2. Select the Current students box.
    3. In the Registration box, select any one of the following option(s): Plan aheadAdd or drop courses onlineStudent scheduleLook-up courses to addRegistration fee assessmentCheck your registration statusApply for undergraduate readmission / change of programUndergraduate transfer credit assessment.
    4. If prompted, login using your network credentials.
    5. Complete your preferred option(s).
    Contact your Academic Advisor for a custom program map, listing all required courses you will need to register in for your first year of study.
  • I am a new student admitted to upper-year standing

    All official communication will be sent to your student email account (OntarioTechU.net), posted in the Announcements and Important information tabs on MyOntarioTech and sent as a notification in our mobile app. You are responsible for checking these channels regularly for information such as course registration, examination information and add/drop deadlines.

    To view your student email:

    1. Go to MyOntarioTech.
    2. Select the Current students box.
    3. In the Resources box, select Student email.
    4. Log into your student email using your student number as the username and your date of birth as the password (in MMDDYY format).

    To view Announcements and Important information:

    1. Go to MyOntarioTech.
    2. Select the Current students box.
    3. Select either Announcements or Important information.

    To view your Registration:

    1. Go to MyOntarioTech.
    2. Select the Current students box.
    3. In the Registration box, select any one of the following option(s): Plan aheadAdd or drop courses onlineStudent scheduleLook-up courses to addRegistration fee assessmentCheck your registration statusApply for undergraduate readmission / change of programUndergraduate transfer credit assessment.
    4. If prompted, login using your network credentials.
    5. Complete your preferred option(s).

    You can now view your registration status and confirm your earned hours through your MyOntarioTech account.

    To view your registration status and confirm your earned hours:

    1. Go to MyOntarioTech.
    2. Select Current students.
    3. In the Registration box, select Check your registration status. 
    4. If prompted, login using your network credentials. 
    5. On the Select a term page, use the drop down arrow to select Terms open for registration, select your term and then click Continue
    6. The Prepare for registration page confirms your student status, academic standing permit registration, any holds on your account and Earned hours. Earned hours are also listed in the top banner of your Student profile page as Overall HoursYour earned hours will determine when your registration window will open.

  • I am a returning or readmitted student

    Contact your upper-year Academic Advisor for information on registration and next steps.


Registration start dates

  • Registration start dates for Spring/Summer 2025

    Registration will open for the Spring/Summer semesters according to the table below:

    • If you are a returning student or have transfer credits, please confirm your earned hours first and register for your courses according the table below. 
    • If you are entering Year 1, your registration date/time slot will be based on the 00-23 earned hours.

    Important to note: 

    • Continue to check your student email and the Ontario Tech Mobile app for updates and reminders about registration. 
    • To reduce slower login times, it is highly recommended that you login to the system 30 minutes prior to your registration start time.
    • It is your responsibility to confirm your earned hours prior to your registration. 
    • Spring/Summer 2025 course preview will become available on MyOntarioTech on March 27, 2025.

    9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

    Registration opens for the following priority groups:

    • Student Accessibility Services (SAS) students with an early registration accommodation*; and
    • Varsity athletes

    10 a.m. - 11 a.m.

    Registration opens for students with 00 to 23 earned hours

    11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

    Registration opens for students with 99 to 999 earned hours 

    12 p.m. - 1 p.m.

    Registration opens for students with 84 to 98 earned hours

    April 2

    12 p.m. - 1 p.m.

    Registration opens for students with 69 to 83 earned hours

    1 p.m. - 2 p.m.

    Registration opens for students with 54 to 68 earned hours 

    2 p.m. - 3 p.m.

    Registration opens for students with 39 to 53 earned hours 

    3 p.m. - 4 p.m.

    Registration opens for students with 24 to 38 earned hours 

    April 3

    9 a.m.

    Registration opens for Graduate students

    Note: *Eligible SAS students who have this included as part of their accommodation plan will receive an email notification if permitted to register early.

    • Note: If sending an email, please make sure to include your name and student ID number, and only email once. Missing student information and multiple emails will result in greater delays.
