English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Pathways
Students who have met all of Ontario Tech's admission requirements—except for the English language proficiency requirement—can enrol in an EAP program at Ontario Tech or with one of our EAP partners.
Ontario Tech's English Language Centre (ELC)
In collaboration with university departments and faculties, the English Language Centre delivers an online, high-quality, focused English program for students to be able to seamlessly enter their university program of choice at Ontario Tech University. Our program places students in relevant language-learning contexts and real-life situations, and provides them with opportunities to develop the skills they will need to succeed in post-secondary education and in a multicultural world.
Overview
- Applied language workshops
- Classes and workshops will be offered in an online model
- Eight weeks (200 hours total) for each level
- English-only environment
- Minimum 25 hours of instruction per week
- Pre-EAP level for beginners
- Six English for Academic Purposes (EAP) levels to develop the competencies needed for university or college
- Six start dates are offered every year
- Small class sizes averaging 12 students
EAP Partners
Ontario Tech has an agreement with EAP providers who offer this program. Students who enrol in one of these programs will receive conditional acceptance from Ontario Tech. By successfully completing the program level indicated in the link below, they can begin their Ontario Tech degree program without further testing.
Students who have received an offer of admission to Ontario Tech and would like to fulfill their English language proficiency requirements by enrolling in one of these EAP programs, can notify the Office of the Registrar at admissions@ontariotechu.ca.
