How does taking the PAS option affect my GPA?

-
If I change all of my course grades to PAS except for one course, how will this affect my GPA?
A student’s term GPA will be calculated based only on courses that have received a letter grade. In this case the term GPA would be based on one course.
Cumulative GPA will be impacted by the appropriate weight of total courses taken.
-
If I request a grade change to a PAS for a course that is required for my minor, will that affect or impact my minor in any way?
PAS grades are not counted in the calculation of the Grade Point Average (GPA) and they will not affect a student’s term or cumulative GPAs. However, the faculty minimum for course/degree requirements for a minor must still be met.

Will opting for PAS grades affect my chances of receiving an academic honour such as being on the Dean’s or President’s list?
Academic honours are based on a minimum 80 per cent course load. Students who opt for a PAS on more than one course will not be eligible.
-
Will opting for PAS grades affect my chances for a university scholarship?

Will opting for a PAS grade affect my applications to graduate or professional schools?

-
How will opting for a PAS affect students who are on academic probation?
University standing, including academic probation, will be calculated on letter grades only. If after opting for PAS grades, the student’s term GPA is over 2.0, they may continue with their studies. A student placed on probation will remain on probation until their cumulative average reaches 2.0 or higher.
-
If I elect a PAS grade for a course that I am retaking because of a previous failure, how will this affect my GPA?
There are two possible scenarios:
- If a student fails the second attempt, their grade will revert to a voluntary withdrawal, and their transcript will show a 'W' notation. The previous failure will stand and the student will need to retake the course; or
- If the student elects the PAS grade, this will replace the previous failed attempt.
